Harajuku Girls
Takeshita-dori in Harajuku is the not so expensive, find every style fashion street for teen girls in Tokyo.
Takeshita-dori connects Harajuku-station and Meji-dori as a small pedestrian street and is usually packed during weekends.
You find shops selling photos of fresh-faced ‘idols’ and fashion accessoires, hip-hop boutiques next door to gangster rap. Shops specialising in ‘Gothic Lolita’ nurse and maid uniforms stand next to those selling retro-punk fashions and Beatles bootlegs.
Very hard to get some decent shots in this very crowded street and to put the pictures then in a decent order. So it remains to some extent random and chaotic, but this is the way Takeshita-dori also is. So let´s start.
This was one of the more prominent girls dressed up and ready to be photographed as you see on the v-sign.She was not posing for me though. Following pictures of rather normal outfits.
Of course every inch of the street is used for shop promoting their brands. Here is a fashion store. Dresses with shoes for 20.000 Yen (around 140 Euro).
I went two days in a row and of course the girls advertising had changed as well as their outfit.
Another strategy is to involve the girls in a conversion to lure them up in to the shop are get them involve in another way. Watch the background; even a construction fence is turned into a “Takeshita-Statement”.
The candy store also changed the colour of their waitress over night.
The next few pics without a comment. They show the variety, phantasy and age spread of the japanese girls (and gays ?) passing through Takeshita-dori.
The last picture I took because of the background and the wonderful bras made by the German company Triumph.
Now again two fashion shops (dresses for 20 Euros) and examples of the so trendy high heel shoes.
The most popular food in Takeshita-dori is crepes.
Let´s have a brief look at the male aspect of Takeshita-dori:
To show up as couples in the same outfit is popular- as are this year red dots and the blue nurse outfit.
To conclude a few random shots, not only of roses and strawberries.
I hope you enjoyed the stroll.
